Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Syllabus, Scope and Salary
M.Phil. (Master of Philosophy) is a Post Graduate academic research course that can be pursued in various domains of study. The course is pursued by students after obtaining a master’s degree in related field from any recognized central or state/private/deemed university. The course is offered by various colleges/universities across the country, however, seats per course are not very extensive and intake is limited. The fee for the course across various colleges and universities across the country varies from 5,000 to 1, 00,000 depending on the location and type of university that is private/deemed or government.
The syllabus of the course is divided into four (two/three in some cases) semesters distributed over a span of one (1.5/2 years in some cases). Admissions to the course are mostly based on a merit-based criterion that is the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate at Post Graduate (PG) level. There are certain colleges/universities that follow Common Entrance Test (CET) based admission criteria for which candidates have to make an application and qualify the exam.
For admission into the course, a minimum of 55% (Relaxable for reserved category students) marks at PG level in the respective domain is set as the requisite criterion by colleges/universities offering the course.
