BNYS stands for Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences. It is a Bachelor’s Degree course related to Naturopathy, Yoga and other allied domains.

Naturopathy is an alternative form of medicine. Though it is not as popular as modern medicine, naturopathy has its takers!

Naturopathy system treats, controls and prevents diseases without the use of drugs. This system is based on the theory that there exists a curative force within the body.

This system of medicine uses the following techniques to treat, prevent and control diseases – diet, massage, exercise, acupressure, acupuncture etc.

NATUROPATHY & YOGIC SCIENCE: AN INTRODUCTION

As the name suggests, this academic program focuses on two disciplines –

– Naturopathy
– Yogic Science

Naturopathy is a form of alternative medicine. It makes use of principles of natural healing, non invasive treatment and self-healing.

Naturopathy system extensively uses diet control, exercise, massage and herbal medicine. Unlike modern medicine system, naturopathy doesn’t employ vaccination, medical testing or surgery.

Yoga involves aspects such as –

– Breath Control
– Simple Meditation
– Asanas (bodily postures)

It trains students in areas such as Hatha Yoga, Yoga Practice, Ayurveda, Anatomy and Physiology, Yoga therapy etc

TYPE OF COURSE

DURATION
The entire program is 5½ years long. It consists of 4½ years long academic program and 1 year long internship program.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
12th pass with PCB subjects from a recognized board OR equivalent qualification. Also check – courses after 12th science.

COLLEGES
There are many colleges offering BNYS course in India. These colleges can be classified into two main types – Government Colleges and Self Financed Colleges.

Government Colleges can be further classified into two types – State Government Colleges and Central Government Colleges.

Government Colleges provide subsidized education to its students. This is the main reason why they charge relatively lower fees that their Self Financed counterparts.

Reputed institutes rely on merit based admission process. Such institutes make use of relevant entrance test to select deserving candidates.
